Pete Whitehouse studied Accountancy at The University of Cape Town. After completing his B Comm., he elected not to go the Chartered Accountant route, but rather to continue his studies with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. “I always had a passion for the proactive,” he says. “The strategy, analysis and planning offered by CIMA was where I wanted to be.” He is currently an Associate of the Institute. After graduating, Pete spent five years with Gilbey Distillers & Vintners in their Forecasting, Planning and Analysis department, before moving into Financial Management in both the detail and the IT sectors.

After a few years he decided he needed more, moved away from the corporate world and opened a niche financial recruitment company. “I could see that the international market had embraced the financial contracting concept and that we were behind the curve, especially in Cape Town where Contract Accountants started.” Pete has been Managing Director of Contract Accountants since it was formed, even though  the company has been part of various JSE Listed entities over the years. He has been responsible for growing the company from a “one man recruitment band” to the national highly respected entity it is today.
